Burger salad

Here’s a tasty recipe for a burger salad that captures all the flavors of a classic burger but in a healthier, salad form:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey, chicken, or plant-based alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mixed greens (such as romaine, spinach, or arugula)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup pickles, sliced (optional)
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • ¼ cup ketchup and/or mustard (for dressing)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary and let it cool slightly.

  2. Prepare the Salad Base: In a large bowl, combine the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and pickles (if using).

  3. Add the Beef: Once the beef is cooked and slightly cooled, add it to the salad.

  4. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the salad.

  5. Dress the Salad: Drizzle ketchup and/or mustard over the salad as your dressing. You can also use your favorite dressing or a combination of both.

  6. Toss and Serve: Toss everything gently to combine, and serve immediately.

Enjoy your delicious burger salad!
